Pitch the Tent. Skip the Gluten. Explore the UK.

We go camping as family of four* (plus one muddy dog) who love a good campfire, a forest trail, and a sky full of stars — but one of us has coeliac disease. So every trip takes a bit more planning, a few more packed lunches, and sometimes, a bit of crossed-fingers bravery when we’re eating out.
*and two older girls who are all grown up
That’s where this site comes in.
We’ve camped all over the UK — from quiet corners of Northumberland to windswept Welsh hills — and along the way, we’ve been scouting out campsites and food stops that work for gluten-free families like ours. No fluff, no guesses, and definitely no “just scrape the croutons off” recommendations.
If we say somewhere is safe, it’s because we’ve eaten there ourselves.
What You’ll Find Here
- Campsite write-ups with gluten-free families in mind
 - Local food guides — from chip shops to farm cafés, all coeliac-checked
 - Essential kit reviews — like the double air mattress we took to Kielder (built-in pump, no midnight top-ups — a game-changer [affiliate link here])
 - Family activities near each site — walks, swims, and all-weather options for soggy days

If you’ve ever stood in a field with no signal, trying to remember which sausages are gluten-free — we’ve been there. If you’ve packed three bags of food “just in case,” or grilled a waiter on cross-contamination while your chips went cold — we’ve done that too.
Camping with coeliac is absolutely possible.
It’s just easier with a bit of intel.
That’s what we’re here for.

Why Trust Us?
Because we’re living it. Every write-up is based on our actual experience — not a press release, not a best guess, and not from the comfort of a desktop in Zone 2. We’re pitching tents, cooking gluten-free dinners on gas burners, and finding the best bacon butties that won’t make our daughter ill.
This isn’t about selling a lifestyle.
It’s about making sure more families get to enjoy the one they already have — gluten-free and under canvas.
